No original electronics, no original pickups, otherwise good condition with case.

$300-$350 less than one that's intact- assuming you're going to search for the original parts and restore it. Maybe $500-$600 if it's otherwise clean?

It's hard to gauge the condition of the one in Denver from the Craigslist photos.

Funny, there's a guy looking for a Deacon or Preacher on the Salt Lake City Craigslist. What a coincidence!

My thoughts are around $650 or so if its in reasonable nick.
A good case is probably worth $100-150 on its own.
I'm actually looking for one at the moment.

If you find a case that happens to have a Deacon taking up space inside, I would be interested!

Although, shipping just an empty case from the States to Australia would be a lot cheaper if it wasn't weighted down with the dead weight of a guitar. But then I thought, that wouldn't be neighborly to ship the case all by itself, I think that maybe I would have to accompany it and make sure that it got there safe! Of course I might have to bring my scuba gear just in case I needed to cool off...

Numby, could you really get a clean one that's all original for $900? I would think it would run more like $1200.

Maybe I'm thinking of prices from a year or two ago. There was a Deacon on eBay a couple of months ago that had a Strat pickup stuck in the (nonexistent) middle position and a couple of big ugly toggle switches added. It was bid up to about $1,000 and didn't meet reserve. I'm so cheap I'd only spend the $250 Stephent28 suggests.

You might recoup some by selling the replacement pickups and pickguard.

No original electronics (+non original pups) kill any value for me. It is the active electronics that make these special IMO.

Here's a pic from the ad. If it's as nice as it looks in the pictures, it's gonna be real nice.

Don't you ever fly to Boise? If so, bring it or some of your others along and look me up. That Preacher sure looks pretty.

Although we serve Boise, I don't pass through very often. The overnights might be on the 4 day trips, and I don't work 4 days. When we served it in the turboprop I spent a lot of nights there, but now that we do it in the jet I haven't done more than pass through. I'll look into it. It would be fun to spend some time playing your nice collection.

Since my daughter's birthday isn't until July, I'm thinking that the Preacher will have to remain sequestered in my bedroom for the next six months. I'm sure it could make a trip to Boise with me in order to get a thorough "functional check" before handing it over to her.

That should work. I just never warmed up to that body style.

I never cared much for the Breadwinner, Deacon or any of the other less traditional styles. I'm too old school. The roundback was as radical as I got. Not that I ever played any electrics anyway.
