I would like to know if other then the annual trip to New Hartford, if any of the N. E. members
get together the way they seem to do in Florida, The N.W. and other areas of the country? I would think that with New England being so small and a drive of 1-1/2 hours max, would cover a good portion of the area, even a 1 day "thing" somewhere would be fairly easy to pull off.

All you gotta do is say "hey - let's have a gathering." All it takes is for one person to throw the idea out (oh, you just did!) and folks will respond. Good luck putting something together, they're really fun.

It's possible for me. The only thing is I can't bring any talent. I forgot to pick that up after all these years. Though I could bring my camera.

Don't pay any attention to Phil - he's Jim Croce reincarnated.

Oh poop! You're right. Sorry Phil! And Gil!

That's what happens when there is a lack of coffee in the house.

I would be interested (even though NY is technically not part of New England).

Not to worry, Phil. Chances are you'll sound like Jimi Hendrix compared to me.

As much as I would love to "Host" , I can not as I live in a small 1 bedroom apt (Ahhh divorce is wonderful :D ) and would not have the room. I asked out of curiosity and if it happened would love to attend

Hey BT - just a suggestion, but you don't have to host it at your place. An example would be the Southern Style Jam that was held at French Broad River Park in Asheville last year. You can just gather a list of (cheap) hotels near a state park or some such that has pavilions for rent, arrange with the park for the rental, and just gather there & make it a big cookout/jam-fest. You'd be sure to attract a crowd of spectators, too.

I don't think it was the lack of coffee. Gil amazed all of us at the last lobby jam with note-for-note renditions of Croce and James Taylor songs. It was late on Friday and many of us had a bit too much tequila. Kim Keller graciously provided 3 bottles of Patron (1 each of silver, reposado and anejo). I do recall Cliff advising Gil that if he didn't play at the Ski Sundown lodge at the '08 Tour, Cliff would personally kick Gil's arse.

Back to the original subject though. The last Northeast OFC gathering was at Kim's girlfriend, Amy's house which was on the NJ shore around exit 100 on the NJ Parkway. There was a nice turnout for that. I'd be happy to host something this summer. My house is in New Hyde Park on western Long Island.

The summer is a way off time-wise, but if enough members are interested, I can start planning and advise SWMBO and the neighbors.

We haven't heard much from Gil since. I was looking forward to learning some Croce stuff from him at the 08 tour, but he said he wasn't sure if he was coming. Maybe he was worried about the ass-kicking. Stage fright would keep me away, but didn't he play at a gig with you, Mitch?

A veteran's gig, if I recall. And Gil's parents (who were at the last Tour - VERY nice people) live a few miles from me (he and I have a loose plan to try to get together one of his next trips Upstate) so, if need be, I can have his Mom yell at him to get back in touch... ;)

I believe they were. Or are, if that's more accurate.

Gil doesn't suffer from stage fright. He did play for the veterans last June.

Cliff, are you serious about Block Island? That's quite a shlep.

Gil played some Croce tunes and also sang lead on a few other songs that Mitch and Craig played.
Mitch, Craig and I are Pharmacists and didn't have to dispense meds that day, only music.

The problem with NE gatherings is that you've got people like Clifford, Mitch, and Phil, and it's not, well, cool.........
