I did it. The Storm is mine. I had my friend pick it up in Phoenix.

He sent pics, and I noticed a "2" stamped on the back of the headstock. Bummer. I assume that means it's a second from the factory?

It does have many cracks in the top finish, but the rest looks good.

I'm curious, would this be something to have refinished at the factory? Should I leave it alone? Does anyone know the price to refinish?

The pics:

That's what I was thinking too. I rescued it from a painter. Refinish was what he had intended originally.

That's a nice early one id'd by the narrow headstock, point-to-point wiring (you can see through the f-holes), the Kluson tuners, and the fact they put a "2" on it for whatever reason (it does mean it's a 2nd, but who knows why specifically). I think later any possible "2" was just painted with bowl paint and called an eclipse. Anyway, nice find and I'd leave it as is.

Check with Slydog. He has a storm at the factory now.. at least you'll get a ballpark figure... his went in at Pre-Fender pricing tho..

It's in nice shape, I'd leave it alone. A second was usually a small cosmetic thing, plenty more of them now, no big deal.

If I remember right, a perfect Storm is once a century.

Don't mind at all AJ. He took the $300. I'm quite happy. :D
