Hello all, brand new owner to an Ovation Celebrity (GC28-AB) courtesy of Musicians Fiend, which of course did not come with a case.

Ovation recommended the 8117-0 hardshell case, but I was wondering if there were any other viable (i.e. less expensive but still worthwhile) options out there?

A search of flea-bay didn't produce any Ovation cases that would fit.

Would a case from another manufacturer fit my guitar, or does the unique body of the Ovation mean I need one of their cases?

Thanks in advance!

Here are some options:

I've used a martin dreadnaught case, you can get 'em used on ebay or craigs list. Or you can get it from a deceased neighbor, which was my source. Didn't need to use any padding. Unfortunately, I sold it when I sold the celebrity.

Probably the best thing is to bring the guitar to guitar center, and just go thru all their cases and gig bags, till you find one that fits, or at least take measurements. And then search for a cheaper one on the internet and make guitar center match it.

Since its a shallow body, I've also used electric gigbags. You'll just need a hook to hang it on to keep it off the floor. Did that for years before I put my shallow celeb in the Martin case.

You got lots 'o options.

Welcome aboard.

If you want a gig bag go to Guitar Center. If you want a hard case call Al @ Lostartvintage.
