I'm trying to get insight so I'd appreciate everyone's observations.
Since I was young I was fascinated with Ovs - even my late grandfather with all of his "traditional acoustic guitar values (praising Martin)" respected Ovs.
I have in my little closet of guitars acquired over the years 2 old Ovs - a 1657 and GC1618.
When I discuss guitars and the guitar-market around here (Canada), it seems like the people in the "know" like to pour water on Ovations. A friend of mine tried selling a CL a few monthes ago and he had to let it go, no pun intended, for a song.
I'd like your feelings on the longterm prognosis for the collectability, desirability, respect of Ovations.

IMHO there are several guitars always worth their value Adamas 1537 86 collector's fd 14 97 collectors to name a few.
others you just never know |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | Ovation`s as Collectibles...., mine`s have probably depreciated in value ( original strings long gone ) , but the gold is still good , so they could collect a couple o` dimes , ..naahh , they look nice on the wall..on top of the stove :)

I've seen old Martins on "AR" that were valuable because they were really old, but they didn't look like they were in great Playing condition to me.
A Centuries-Old Stradivarius Violin is worth what it is worth because it has been played for hundreds of years. And because of that, it is a Tone Monster. Otherwise it is just pretty wood.
My 1121 is worth what it is worth (to me) cuz it is one of the best sounding guitars that I own...
(Although someone gorilla-glued the headstock.)
Otherwise, it is probably not worth what I paid for it.
My Pacemaker is probably worth less that it was worth, cuz I had it rebuilt.
An Old Ovation is worth the most to an Old Guitar Player.
If you want a sure investment, buy low-serial-number Hot Wheels cars. :mad:
But the real value of an Ovation is that you can Play It and enjoy it. Then you can sell it, and someone else can enjoy it.
Then you take the money and buy another Ovation! :cool: |

I could care less how much it's worth to someone else. To me, it's priceless. It would take a silly amount of money to get it away from me. Much more than it's worth. |
