Hi All, your thoughts please.

I have a 94 Adamas11 1581/9 that I love and is the only acoustic Ovation that I own.

I have played acoustic on and off for years (not very well) and my interest in Ovation electrics is only pretty recent.

I have been keeping an eye out for another Ovation acoustic preferably here in Oz because of the shipping cost from the US.

My thoughts were to buy an older Balladeer which is what evoked my interest in Ovation guitars way back in about 75 when I first had the opportunity to play one.

There is an as new 1777LX Custom Legend for sale on Ebay here at what I think is a pretty good price.
Here
Is the sound that much different to my Adamas or should I look for something else?

I'm in no hurry.
Thanks AJ :)

Completely different, James. If you want an Adamas sound, there's really not much you can get but an Adamas...

I suggest a Cello, for that Acoustic "tone", with authentic gut-strings, for that Classical "feel", other than that, a Custom Legend would be a good idea, Large Single Hole as opposed to smaller multiples, ...what do U think looks nice ?

Jeff, I didn't really want another to sound the same as my A.
I realise that they are totally different guitars, just not had any exposure to a CL.
Sorry, The link seems to be dead. #230210066225
It's a 2007 1777LX described as unplayed and mint. Appears to be a Sunburst colour, looks a beauty. $1350AUD (about $1150 USD).
(apparently found a Martin he liked)
Seems a good deal??

Hi AJ,
I own both; an AII 1681-9 (used) and an Ovation legend 1777LX-4 (new).
What to say...they are different. It depends on the mood I choose to play A instead of O and viceversa.
Personally I like the LX series. They are really nice looking guitars and sounding. Ovation re-descover the X bracing that to me it works very well compared with old A bracing. More you have the OP pro preamp that's really fantastic compared with the Op24.
My suggestion ? Go for that.
Riccardo
