I know ... I should probably be asking Kim this question, but does anyone here have an idea of what it would cost to have an OP24 to OP Pro upgrade on my 1581-8? When I was at practice last night I played both my Adamas guitars and noticed a BIG difference in plugged-in sound between my two guitars. The one with the OP24 didn't sound nearly as nice.

That's right, ask them.

Can't do it. The OP Pro shape won't fit cleanly into the OP24 shape.

vince, go for an Optima instead. It's arguably one of the best preamps Ovation's ever offered, with the added bonus of being a suitable upgrade from th OP24 cosmetically. The OP-Pro style sits more in the curve of the waist and matches the contour, while the 24 and Optima have flat tops. As Paul said, they sit in different places.
Contact JB, I happen to know they have Optimas in stock.

I agree with John, the Optima is the best amp they have ever offered IMHO.

One of these days I'm going to have the OP24 in my 87C upgraded to an Optima.

I have an OP24+ I need to install myself. If its OK with this site and Ovation???? Could you let us know what the factory says about pricing and if they will sell one outright or if they want the guitar. I could use two of the Optima units as well for the other two. I know I can ask I just figured there are most likly a bunch of us interested and it is the Official Ovation Fan site.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice guys. Looks like the Optima is the way to go. I'm gonna be trying some selling and or trading pretty soon, and then I should have the cash to do the upgrade and get a Viper, and eventually a longneck too.

...might be slightly OT question, but what about an "upgrade" to the preamp used in the EA68 Vipers?
