Thanks for the heads up. There's only one problem. Elixer nanos are the worst pieces of crap I've ever played. Something about wrapping your strings in teflon and expecting them to sound good does not add up for me. Oh, it's to increase the life of the string? Why, so they can sound shitty for twice as long? Sorry, I'll play my uncoated strings and change them twice as often at 1/3 the price. Total marketing spooge. But then again, that's just my opinion and most others probably don't agree. Sorry to go off on the messenger. Happy New Year. Dave

That's why I switched over to the DR Extended Life strings.

Can't see myself using Elixer's anymore except for the few sets I have left....and I usually just throw those into a guitar case when I send it off to the new owner!

Sorry Dave, can't go along with ya this time...I've used them (both the Polyweb and the Nanoweb) for over 10 years now on most of my guitars...I do use the occasional D'addario set on some O's and A's but they don't last very long and I play a lot...Nothing out plays and out lasts Elixir's in my opinion...your mileage may vary of course! The Polyweb is the original and thicker coating and sound very nice on 12 strings...They also have new Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb’s as well...I do think they do not sound as good on Adamas guitars as do the D'addario or Adamas strings, but on everything else, they work for me! Strings and Beyond is a great company and offer lightning shipping and great service. They almost always add something free to every order. I highly recommend them...

Happy New Year All!

Hey, I'm not looking for anyone to agree with me or not. There's a reason there are 20 different brands of strings out there and everyone has their most favorites and least favorites. I jumped on this thread just because it struck me as ironic that 1) here's a great deal on some strings and 2) I wouldn't use them even if they were free. I have heard good things about S&B, by the way.

Hey, a lot of folks like them, and that deal at S&B seems like a good one. Dave

and the good thing is that Strings and Beyond sell a huge choice of different brands..

The bad thing is we're sitting here on New Years Eve (now New Years 2008!) debating strings...we're getting old guys! :D ;)
Happy New Year Gentlemen! I appreciate you all!

Maybe they just sound like crap because every set of Elixers I have tried has been on a Taylor guitar.

I'm trying the ClearTone EMP's on the Longneck (mediums - Stephen didn't send any Elixers with it) and lights on the '87.
I'm likin em. Great tone, and they're lasting very well.

If your playing out a lot and you play a 2 1/2 or 3 hours worth of music in a night that is the life span of a normal string set for me. The nanowebs last me four gig's. Nice thing is they don't continue to corrode on the guitar when it is just sitting. I bring three guitars on stage one is used 2/3rds of the night so I can go up to 5 or 6 gig's before changing. Agreed a good set of bright bronze wound strings can sound better but considering most of my music is done plugged in now this is not much of a consideration for me anymore.
The price works out to less than half price for me using nano's and this is just the simple truth of the math. I still have some packs of bronze wounds waiting for an acoustic jam session.

For you guys that have sets of strings you don't like and strong opinions on them, put your strings that you don't like on the for sale section and somebody like me who isn't so fussy may take them off your hands.
Since I have had a moratorium on guitar buying for awhile, I'm actually running out of new strings that came with guitars I bought.
