I've had quite a few black Ovations now. They're all like a mirror, smooth as glass... but not the Al DiMeola CL.

You can see the way the grain runs on a black AD CL top. I've noticed it on mine, the CL one Bob posted in for sale, and the only other one I've ever played too.

Does anyone know if the finishes were speced different for the AD models? Different or less paint maybe? Or maybe the clear finish is different?

No idea, had two of the ADII that had similar finish to a black 6 str and 12 str CL (nice gloss but solid)
