Hi
Just picked up a Cloud Nine 8 String
Does anyone have a suggestion on strings as I need to change them out.
Do I buy a 12 string set and just use the ones I need?
And does anyone know what gauge would be best?

Thanks Bear.

Good luck with that one Bear. I'm still trying to figure out the first 6 strings.

I very much doubt you would buy a 12 string set because a typical set of 12er strings use an octave string paired with a standard string. Your 8 string (I'm assuming here) probably uses 2 additional bass strings. So I'd guess you should check with www.juststrings.com or and equivalent site.

Regular 6 string set with the two doubled strings as octaves....or whatever a standard 12 string would have for those two strings. Emulates the sound of a 12 without the extra 4 strings.

It seems to be a variant on the Roger McGuinn 7-string (octave GString added) by also adding an Octave D string. Probably you use a regular six string set and add a 9 and a 14 to the mix. I'll bet it sounds real jangly.

Sounds nice and looks awesome!

Still not getting it as Astro Dan is correct it is set up with two strings ovtave up on the D and G strings in the center.
It sounds awesome. Like a blend 6/12 string without having to fight 4 extra strings.
But not sure what to buy.

I'd email the manufacturer and ask 'em for their recommendations.
