<p>As far as I know all other "Book" models besides the guitar have been made for and should be sold as sets - Guitar, Longneck, Bass, Mandolin, Mandocello, Viper, 12-string... And maybe I forgot one or two models. I think they planned 10 sets, But these sets were very expensive and so they sold the guitars seperately - and didn't even make ten of each. The rarest should be the 12-string and the Mandocello, as far as the german distributor told me, the most of them are the guitar (they made a lot of these) and the Mandolin. Bass and Longneck should have been built five to ten times. But that is what Musik Meyer told me, maybe Beal knows more and better.</p>

Oh, that´s very interesting, thank you. I was not aware that my bass is such a rare bird. Great player, sounds like a double bass.
A book mandolin would be nice!
I have an old Ibanez mandolin hanging on the wall right beside the Book bass and the guitar...

By the way, it is B768, not 8768.

The Mandolins show up every once in a while - the last one I know being sold was on this board. I was tempted to buy it to hang it between my Bass and Longneck, but did not have the money back then.

Oh my guitars and the mandolin, too, they are not only to be admired on the wall, they are all to be played regularly, that´s why I have them hanging on the wall. In earlier days I had them all stored in cases, needed complete room relocations to get one out, but now I can pick them quicker and easier - and more often. Besides that I find that these instruments are great items of art just like paintings. Thus... I have no more space for paintings...

John Budny told me that about 20 Book mandos were made.

I got mine from another OFCer several years back. Dave had already had the factory gloss the neck and everything. It's the perfect match for my Book Elite which also has a glossed neck. (BTW, I'm told they made about 100 of the Elites.)

They were on the cover of the 2010 calendar, sitting on a wall next to the factory. See.....

Now if I could only acquire a Book Mandocello and a Book Viper......It'll be tough, 'cause I'm broke right now.
