Hello all,

I have a 1997 USA Elite Standard 6778 in excellent shape. The top seems a bit dark for Stika Spruce especially compared to the 1997 catalog photos. I wonder if it was a special order.

It only came in Black and Natural that years so I am confused. It plays great!

Nope, I believe that's natural. You just got a top with some nice graining that is aging really nicely. I'll be it sounds fantastic. Welcome.

I had a 1768 Elite with similar colouring.

My current acoustic guitar's (non Ovation) spruce top is almost white in comparison.

I think it's UV that changes the colour. I've seen a few for sale that have been kept in a case for many years, and they look like new ones.
