Hi all. It's been a while since I posted. Sold off most of my collection, including 5 of the 6 Os I had. Kept just the ones I played.

i'm looking at a UKII. It's seen better days. Chips a plenty down to the foam. Electrics are in good shape as is the neck and frets. My questions more comes down to repairs and overall sound.

I saw in a previous thread about using Superglue, nail polish, bondo, epoxy, etc. I'm decent at Superglue repairs, but some of the are the size of a quarter. Epoxy might be a better choice. Has anyone actually done fixes on a UKII successfully?

I'm also concerned about that sound of the UKII. All the YouTube vids I find are pretty tinny or so distorted it could be any guitar. What should I expect? Tele-ish, Strat-ish? Something else-ish?

Any info would be appreciated.

Think more of a Gibson sound than anything Fender. The pickups are very hot. If you're a Tele/Strat sort, get a Viper instead.

I'm no help on the repair questions

Epoxy such as west system with the appropriate filler won't melt the foam and will be very strong.

And like that... it's gone. I'm moving too slow in my old age.

Thanks all.

There was one on CL a little down the road from me recently (Utica, I believe) but I see that one is gone as well. Or it could be the one you were looking at. Either way it did look in decent shape and was going for a decent price as well.

Guitar Center in La Mesa CA has 2 of them right now, both with price drops down to $499.

One is listed as "good condition" and the other is listed as "fair condition" and both are black. What the difference in the model/year etc. It's hard to tell from the crappy photos!

I emailed GC for more info - waiting to hear back. Is black a common color for UK11? They have 2 so I'm thinking it must be! I think I would prefer a burst of some description...

It doesn't say if a case is included. Is $500 an OK price without the case?

There is a Tobacco Burst on Reverb for sale, looks to be in pretty good condition, and has it's case. It is on sale too!

Nancy. Thanks for the heads up

This looks a lot like Damon's UK11 to me, but the knobs are different.

Can the informed people here school me as to why the control knobs are different? If they are original when did they change?

It has a broken intonation screw (the head snapped off?!) - how hard is that to replace?

These are the original knobs. You saw aftermarkets on my pictures. I changed them out when I was a teen. They're back to the originals now. Took me a while to find them.
