Joined: December 2003 Posts: 1889 Location: Central Massachusetts | I have an unused iDea pre-amp for sale. Record your licks and play them back. Play along with included jam tracks or lessons. Just the pre-amp itself (and a USB cable) are included. I do not have the mounting "can", the 1/8" AUX IN Jack, or headphones. The iDEA pre-amp is compatible with OP style of pre-amp "cans" - OP10, OP-20, OP-30, OP-40, OP-50, OP-Pro, OP-Studio and OP-VIP5. So if your guitar is outfitted with one of these existing pre-amps you can simply pop it out and pop the iDEA in its place. More info about the preamp can be found at StandingOvation's site: http://www.ideafordummies.com Asking $180 shipped/insured CONUS. Thanks! Joined: December 2003 Posts: 1889 Location: Central Massachusetts | Some wisdom from OMA: -- You can only drop the iDea module into an OP-Pro can. Some say that it will work in an OP-50 can, but I have no evidence either way. But you can NOT drop the iDea into the OP-10, 11, 20, 30 or 40. When they say that it is interchangeable with all of the kidney cans, they mean that you can remove the can and it will fit in the hole. -- Pretty sure it will work in an Op Pro Studio or VIP5 can as well. Thank you, sir!

So if you have an LX or a newer T, or even an AX or TX, you can use this. After all... This is the OFC so we are supposed to understand the difference.

If you had the "can" as well as this part, can you swap the whole assembly with an OP-30? Like could I swap a whole set up from an iDea guitar with my Elite T that has a OP-30 and slimline pickup? Or would you have to have a OP-30 and wide pickup like my 1718 to swap. OR can you only swap between Pros and not swap full can assemblies period....whew Cue up Old Man Expert... (nor 10, 11, 20, or 40 can). But if you HAVE the whole iDea kit, including the Can... The iDea Can will fit into the "bean-shaped" hole in the bowl of the guitar. And the connectors for the jack and the pickup will connect with the appropriate jacks in the iDea can. BTW-- I have an iDea unit. Once the novelty wears-off, I no longer use it. YMMV

You can plug a wide Original pickup into an OP-30. I have an OP-30 preamp in my Painted Elite-T with a wide saddle. The plug-in connection is the same on both saddles and both cans. Confused yet?

I know for sure it's interchangeable for an OP-Pro Studio as I've done that many times here. I also know it works fine with an OPP original patented pickup. I actually didn't know the thinline worked with it. But I will defer to OMA, he's had way more permutations of all this stuff than I have. Clear as mud, right? ;-)
