Or... there is no way to reach inside of a Bear-claw because of the bars on the holes.
So you need a manhole cover to get guitar picks and cashews out of it.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good One OMA!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the 12 fret slothead Elite would be perfect if it was a 12 string. Can't think why they didn't make it that way to get a 12 in the line up.

Keep in mind that these 6 models are not "the" lineup per se. These are expensive limited edition models to celebrate the 50th/40th anniversary and the demand for a $4000 12-string is probably pretty limited. Moving forward with the routine lineup I would agree that a nice non-cutaway 12-string would be a terrific idea especially given Ovations strong history and reputations as a 12-string builder. Problem might be that you can still buy plenty of nice Pacemakers on ebay in the $500 range.

Surprised at the absence of a textured top/ suspension ring in the 40th Adamas lineup.

I had know idea 12 fret wide neck 6 strings were so popular., that width for a 12 is about right, like the pacemaker. Even for nylons I like the 14 fret and narrower neck of the country artist but I'm used to closer spacing.

I think you just pop the pre-amp out and the hole might be big enough for some hands to reach in.

children's work allowed in the US?

a hand (at least), a tool, maybe even a lamp....

honestly, I am going with OMA....

First I thought they had built the first models without that man cover, because it looks nicer at NAMM, but as OMA wrote, there are other contour O's and A's without that hole, whereas the AX do have it.

Maybe the US built guitars are maintenance-free?!

Somehow I missed the introduction of the FD 14 models until now. Those get my blood going. The Folklore is just right as a fingerstyle guitar. Barre chords are a little more difficult than on a standard neck, but they're not as tough as a flat 2 inch classical neck. I like the sound of the Folklores with spruce tops. The FD 14s have cedar tops, so they have a bit softer sound. Darren didn't say, but it looks like a mid-depth on the 12 fret model, which might be a bit soft for my tastes.

Yes, I'm still holding out for a vintage Gibson Byrdland with the skinny neck and 23 1/2" scale. ....

And here's the thread discussing that: http://ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=30365&posts=17&highlight=adamas%20inside&highlightmode=1#M404034

Thanks TAFKAR.

good link.

But when a brace has gone or the guitar has a kaman bar with access from the inside..... Then, I guess, the mother is needed. And when you are  abroad, these things do not become easier....

Standingovation - 2016-01-18 7:49 PM Wonder what happened to the center hole model ...

And, is it a "normal" contour or a mid-depth? From this pic, it looks like a regular deep-bowl contour like my CE or 07C...

Either way works for me.

That's it.

They say its slightly slimmer. If there is a difference, I couldn't tell much.

I can't justify bringing home another Black Cutaway Ovation

You have an Adamas.

This Elite is an Ovation.

Apples and oranges, not even the same name on the headstock.

Justification made... Buy the Elite, keep the Adamas.

Yea yea yea I should've seen this coming. You are basically quoting the little voice in my head. I'd like to keep them both but... Let me ask this differently. I've owned an Anniversary Legend a 12 string Custom Balladeer and 2 Adamas. What does a Custom Elite sound like?

I have a mis-labeled C2078 made in 2009. I bought it brand new in a local B&M store and it is one of the best playing and sounding guitars I've ever palyed. Not THE best, but I'd hate to have to live off the difference.

Full, rich tone up and down the fret board and simply beautiful. Plays like a dream, too...

Thanks for your thoughts the Elite.

Nice sounding guitar. Rainsong is on my list of songs to learn sometime soon. I like your feel for it.

Why did they use x bracing on the Legend? Something to do with the cedar top?

I think USA Legends switched (back) to X bracing around 2008 with the introduction of the LX series. The new model is probably just a carryover from that. I don't think it has anything to due to spruce vs cedar, bt I am far from being an expert.
