Location: Indiana | Hey everyone, I'm new around here. It looks like a place people really know what they're talking about.
Anyway, I was just rummaging through some of my father's old things and I found an old Ovation guitar he forgot he had. I'm just wondering if this thing is worth anything or if it's just a run-of-the-mill guitar.
The model # is 1615-4 and the serial number is 000938.
I looked those things up and it's telling me it's a 1972 Ovation 12-string, deep bowl, electric/ acoustic with standard color. I'm just wondering if this is a good find or not. I'd appreciate any information.

Any Ovation is a good find. Especiallay a 12 string deep bowl. Great sound. Check the next for straightness and action, and get playkng. A 72 should have opened up nicely by now, sound wise.

| Stonking great guitar. Among the best 12-stringers made by anyone, anytime. Not a high-dollar item, Ovations just aren't appreciated as they should be. But the sentimental value for you should be priceless. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | If you know what you are doing, you might want to change the strings and clean the guitar...
If it has been stored so long that people forgot about it it might need a bath.

Location: Upper Left USA | Just clean, re-humidify and restring.
All you need to know about tuning a 12 is to tune the main six and then get the other six to match.
The biggest Rookie 12 string tuning OOPS is to overtighten the tiny little G octave (.009").
