Location: Katmandu		I guess the ad text on the new Adamas strings can be somewhat misunderstood (see my image above), therefore the confusion. It reads, "The Adamas strings feature identical core and wrap specs on the 5th and 6th string," meaning, as Damon said, that the diameter of the core and that of the wrap are identical for each the 5th and the 6th wound string. The E and A strings aren't identical in terms of core or wrap diameters.

They list Adamas 1717 and 1818 strings (and 1749, without a description)

That's my guess. Thinner core needs less tension for any particular pitch. But is it enough to feel the difference? Dunno that.

I hope you all don't mind my chiming-in, but the super nice "red blanket" guy (who also happens to photograph guitars...well, Ovations...beautifully - quite a player as well, from what I've heard) was really helpful; and so I went ahead and ordered a dozen 1919Es. He's even agreed to send them to Japan! I used to love the 1919Es, and put them on all of my acoustic guitars before I ever tried the D'Addys. I've never done a head-to-head comparison so can't say for sure if the sound is noticeably different, but I do prefer the non-color coded end-beads. Besides I can't get Adamas strings over here in Japan anymore unless I'm willing to pay exorbitant prices for remnant stock from yester-year. Since DW is the supply source for these, I figured the purchase couldn't hurt. I'm gonna do my head-to-head comparison when the strings arrive in a week or two! The Mothership's resurrection is inspiring OFCers in more ways than one! Way Cool!

Congratulations Arumako!! I just bought a 12 string, (Not an Adamas, but just as Sweet!), and now I know where to get my Adamas Strings for 12'ers and my Regulars. I am SO Happy that Adamas Strings are back, and that we can get nice, fresh ones, and from a Family Member to Boot!!! Keep it all in the Family, and help Ovation at the same time!

Location: Denmark		Several european web shops sell Adamas strings. Considering the price level of Ovation/Adamas over here the strings might be the closest many will ever get to owning something Adamas. I never tried the strings. Do they sound different from other phosphor bronze strings? They (the manufacturer) do seem to emphasize that the core and wrapping wire is the same diameter but I don't know if that is not the case for other brands.
