Owned and played by country music artist Trey Taylor.  Trey has indicated he would sign the guitar at the new owner's request.

I live in the town where this is located....I would be happy to check it out for others...if you can arrange it with the seller...I already have an Adamas I am happy with...so I don't need another....Given who owns it....in person previews may not be possible.

Those photos of the guitar in the stand are NOT the guitar for sale.
Those photos were taken from Ovation Tribute
The photos of the guy holding the guitar are the guitar.

Yes, just as OMA said.  He was a big help in figuring out that the guitar in the stand was not the guitar the artist was holding/playing.

The selling "agent" explained that they couldn't get photos that did the guitar justice, but didn't want to pay for a professional photographer...hence the Ovation Tribute photos.  But I'm still not a fan of sellers using other people's photos without permission or giving photo credit.

That's unfortunate. Why not shoot straight that the pictures are not the guitar for sale.
The ad says it is in "excellent" condition, then says it is in "very good" condition.
I imagine that if it was his road guitar, it is "experienced".
Interesting auction.

There are some other "interesting"/uncommon Adamas on Ebay, and not necessarily well described:

a 1688-9 (not sure what colour that actually is):

and a center hole 6591:

Stolen pics, that's why I'm using watermarks on Red Blanket pictures now.

And who'd want an autograph from that goofy looking dude.... never heard of him.

I've been emailing with Anne Marie. I told her the pics don't have to be "professional", even phone pics would do if they're done reasonably well. She said she would take some pics of the actual guitar later today and post them. I also told her that I knew someone in town and asked if it would be possible to show the guitar in person. She said that they were currently on the road so seeing it in person would be impossible but if anyone was skeptical, they wouldn't have to bid. I responded that posting pics taken off the internet combined with no previous history on an item that could possibly run a couple of thousand dollars might make most reasonable people skeptical but she's right, I don't have to bid.

And I won't.

When I first started dealing with eBay back in 2006, you could get a listing shut down for stolen photos. "Stock" photos from the manufacturer are not the same thing if you are selling a New guitar.
But stolen photos would get a listing pulled.
All that needed to be done was to send eBay a link showing where the original photo came from, and the perpetrator's listing would be shut down.
Those days are over.
You can run any deceptive listing that you want now, as long as eBay get their 10%.

You may have a choice not to bid... But intentional deception is still intentional deception.

BTW-- I have also played to crowds of thousands outside of the Moda Center Arena.
I don't know if I would call them "admiring"... But they had to listen.

The 1688-9 is listed as brown-burst on the Ovation Tribute site, same color as the one John Denver had,not seen to often it seems so a rarer color I would guess

The seller of the 1581 is being disingenuous using someones elses pictures without listing it as such and asking permission of the actual pictures owner, the comment of "you don't have to bid on it" is crap IMHO and feebay should pull the ad for false advertising.

I would do bodily harm for that -9, I LOVE that color, and it is just like John Denver's, only in much better condition. (And his was selling for $60,000!!!!) But it is not going to happen, so I sure do hope it goes to a great home!

Oh my it is tough seeing all these special O's being available right now.  I have been lusting for a 1688 or a U-681 12string too but alas was able to acquire an even more exotic  12 that I was chasing for a long time  just in time for xmas so not eligible for another for a while.

Yep, it sure is.. with a whole new auction, too. The last one ended without notice, days before its original scheduled end date.. *poof*.. gone.. along with the original Q&A as to why it's being sold (see Strike 1 in second inning).
Oh well.. at least the seller is being up front on the fact that they won't accept returns.

My experience is the seller can say "no returns" but if the buyer points out something that was not described right...like "Great Condition" when the frets are worn or there is an issue with the binding, or or or...
Ebay will make them take it back. Of course the buyer is out the shipping back, but that is the risk vs reward(if there is any). So "no returns" means zilch, really, if the auction is not properly described. Ebay, over the years, has become buyer friendly.
Unless your stolen guitar is sold on their website.

So sorry if I appear to be batting this person around for trying to sell a guitar.. but it's about HOW they are trying to sell it and the HUGE misrepresentations they are making about its owner and its history. Sure, it's a nice guitar.. and I certainly have nothing against the owner for pursuing his career.. but if you'd like to see a video of the guitar in action, click the link below.. and if anyone in the throws of Ebay world who sees the video then does a forehead slap and says, "Oh, THAT Trey Taylor!".. then they should feel free to bid on this guitar for all of its crowds-of-10,000+ fame and its so-called friends of Dolly Parton and Donald Trump admiration history and value.

Fair and Balanced ....

Trey is really a pretty nice kid and he admires Glen Campbell. Oh...and he is one of the few artists that believes that Ovation is a kick *** guitar and is willing to have it OUT FRONT, not only in concert, but in promo's. Regardless of the crowd size...how many artists are doing that for Ovation today? The kid has a contract and I believe he tours. Living the dream...with Ovation.

@Jay - >>>Ebay, over the years, has become buyer friendly. Unless your stolen guitar is sold on their website.<<<

After what our own Sligoman said in his "3 Stolen in Portland" post here the other day, I'm sure he would fully agree with the second line of that! Poor guy. I hear ya on the buyer-friendly part. Ebay has improved in that in terms of tangible things that can be pointed out. Unfortunately, the buyer-friendly part seems to also extend to Sligoman's case as well since the stolen guitar is still in the buyer's hands weeks later with zero, zip help from Ebay on returning their calls from law enforcement.

@Jay - >>>Trey is really a pretty nice kid<<<

Heck yes. I've checked him out and I wish him all the best.. contracts, tours, dreams.. no doubt. I'm just jumping his case for trying to oversell something that is based on the value of a famous career that has not [yet] happened.

Sorry.. I'm just grouchy today. Tired of the daily dupe I guess.

The description of the guitar and his bio don't really match. The bio suggests he has one record and he's 18, whereas the guitar ad suggests he's an aging established star with many hit records under his belt who is on friendly terms with certain other celebrities ... and if this is his main guitar, why the heck does he sell it!

Hey, Taylor Swift played my Painted-T when it was still Red...
(and seemed kinda miffed that I didn't recognize her or her talent)

I don't think Dolly Parton would say anything bad about anyone.
And if Donald Trump is has buddy, maybe he should get a gig at the inauguration.
(nobody else seems in a hurry to play there... must be a non-paying gig)

Let's not pick on the guy... He may be an Ovation endorser one day.
(If he isn't selling that Adamas to buy a Taylor or some crap like a Takamine )

Maybe this thread- and the one where the guy got the crappy Craigslist Adamas- are the reason for the rules...

IF THE ITEM ISN'T YOURS, DO NOT POST IT FOR SALE
Some leniance will be provided to list something for a friend, or something you have personally seen, but in general if you do not know the seller or the item, you are not to list it here.

Just kidding. You're right. Very right. Especially since most of us are already scouring through Ebay, Reverb, Craigslist, etc on a daily basis anyway.
