Thought I'd start a new thread here for photo posts. Just ran into our old friend Matt Smith tuning a custom RS double neck. Will post photos as soon as I can.

Nope. The bodies are composite and noticeably lighter than the mahogany vipers.

Considering the DW heritage, I'm pretty sure they are Cajon percussion boxes, Jimmer. Yes... very cool.

Geez I'd love to sample one of those. But I don't need another guitar. I don't need another guitar. He said...

To get one of those Ova-Cajons it would probably be best to be at the Ovation booth on the last day when they are tearing down.

The neck on the Glen Campbell model looks exactly like the neck ((that was released around Ghost on the Canvas)) that was attached to the Glen Campbell 1627LTD

I loved playing the nee GC models today. They felt great. Lovely old style V neck in satin finish. Very light and resonant.

I would guess these GC guitars might just be old stock of the LTD with a new label on them. Ovation has made several attempts to reissue the 1627, first as a 40th anniversary model in '06, then the LTD version, then the Vintage lyracord version (which are still being sold as FRG's) and now this one. Plus I'm sure there will be a "tribute" model after he passes.

Bottom line is that these were great guitars and groundbreaking in their day. Unfortunately that day was 45 years ago.
