Hi there! I inherited a beautiful 12 string that I'll never be able to play but I'd like to know more about it if possible. It seems to be pretty close to perfect, but I admittedly don't know the first thing about it. I can take more pictures if necessary. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Justin

That's it! Thanks! I've been looking all over for more info and I'm glad I found this place. It looks like it's missing something next to the pre amp, any idea what went there?

There are no photos of your preamp... So, I have no idea.

Sorry about that, just took some more pics. The third pic has the empty slot. Thanks again for all your help!

The battery goes in there. If you look inside you will see a bigger contact and a smaller contact to match the contacts on a 9v battery.
It looks like the sliding door is intact... It is just slid over.
It slides from the neck side towards the preamp side.
You should started by pulling the edge that is closest to the top to straighten the door.
If it is hard to move with your thumbnail, stick a dime in between the neck-end frame and the lip on the sliding door. Give the dime a little twist to get it started.

This is what it looks like when closed (not my guitar)...

I hope that helps...

You've been so much help, I appreciate it! The more I read up on it, the more I wish I could play it, but I'm more of a percussion guy. I might just hold onto it until I can devote some time to strumming. Thanks again!
