Just curious, what makes the dual knob electronics more appealing to you than a newer preamp?  I had an Optima in my 1881 and loved it. I have a two knobber 1581 reissue (single epaulet) and it's great, but looking for the OP-24 or an Optima in a newer 1581 may open up more possibilities for you.

Not judging, just asking.

I just love the OP-PRO in my 2080 and would love to have a 1581 with that one too. But it´s just a love of the design that makes me whant one.
Right now my 2078 LX Custom Elit is doing a great job and it has the OP-PRO. Can´t get enough Ovations........

I have a two knobber 1581 reissue (single epaulet) and it's great

I have the 1581 reissue too.... but it's a double eppie. I always wondered why they did them both ways.

I was wondering that myself, but I love the guitar.

Yes. Finding a mid-80s two knobber in good shape for a decent price may take a while though. Happy hunting!

My single-sider is a tone CANNON!... Siesmologists call the house when I play it. I only wish I had Kim Keller's Blue Acoustic Adamas Bass hanging next to it on my stand
