Hello,

I've just bought a Breadwinner from eBay (UK) and would very much appreciate some information on the guitar.

It has a gloss black neck and body. I thought they all had a textured finish but were any made with a gloss finish?

It has brass bridge saddles. I thought Breadwiners had nylon saddles. Does anyone know if any were made with brass?

It has a matt or satin finished scratchplate.

The serial number is E 190xx

The guitar was advertised as all original.

Any information regarding it's originality or authenticity would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris

Yes, there are Brass Saddles as well as the White Nylon.

By your "E" + 5 digits serial number your guitar was made between 1975 and 1980.
Your guitar could be a custom order also.

Hey Mr. Tiger, I added you as a member so you can post in the main section. Would love to see a picture. There were a couple of breadwinners over the years that had "gloss" finish... To my knowledge, they were just one (or two) off's that were done, and neither custom order or production models. Just someone built'em that way. The pickguards weren't shiney, but I wouldn't call them satin either. A picture would help. They key question is does it still have the pre-amp? Only the very first run of Breadwinners had the nylon saddles. They switched to brass very early on and the Nylons would go with the Toriodal pickups not the mini-humbuckers.

Thanks both for your replies. You have set my mind at rest. I'm happy to post a few photos but can't find a button to upload. Perhaps I need to use one of the other forums to post pics.

Too many guitars? Not while I still have space! Not much talent? Sadly this one is true.

Cheers,

Chris

I'm happy to post a few photos but can't find a button to upload.

In the upper right corner of any post there is a [reply] button.
Once you have clicked that, you will get to a Reply page.
In the lower left you will see a [Use Rich Text Editor] button.
Click that it it will take you to a more complicated reply page
In the Rich Text Editor you will see a "picture" icon in the upper tool bar.
There you can load the address of an image from another hosting site like photobucket or google.

Also at the bottom of the reply page you will see a box that says: [ ] Attach a file after you post.
You can use that to attach a photo from your computer.

Also... Yes. You will need to use one of the other Forums to post pics, or anything.
I recommend General Posting for a General Audience.
Only a few members can reply in the "Welcome Center".
The "Welcome Center" is a filter to slow-down spammers.
Now that you are a "Member" you should post elsewhere.

Enjoy!
