Hi All
Long time reader, but new member to the site. 2 questions fpr the group-
First, I've been looking on ebay, reverb etc for a used ovation 2774 and have not found one for sale
If any members own one and are interested in possibly selling- please contact me (not sure how that works actually-just post to this thread?
Also, related to my 2774 search- came across 1.75 inch nut width thread and someone mentioned the 50th custom elite- (and how they were not thrilled with the epaulets)- Sweetwater and Musicians Friend lists the nut width for that guitar as 1.75 on their web sites but the ovation guitars site lists it as 1 11/16 inch. Can someone tell me which is correct. Btw I'm referring to the 1678AV Full Body Slothead -not the cutaway.
Thanks so much for all the past info i've gotten from searchs of this forum in the past and excited and honored to now be a part of it!
Cheers!
Mike

Hi,
the 1678AV50 is a 1.75 neck guitar, I have one and they are great!! The 2774 LX Folklore are great gutars as well but extremly rare. I'm on the hunt for one, too. Maybe Al has new one left in his stock.....

Welcome Mike

Aside from the nut, those are pretty different beasts. The 2774LX is a cutaway with a 14 fret to body neck

The 1678AV50 is non-cutaway with a 12 fret to body neck.

Both have a 1 3/4" nut

I might ask Al to check his inventory. He has TWO different 2773LXs listed on his site, but one is clearly a steel string 2774LX, so maybe he has one and just has it marked wrong. It's either the wrong model number, or the wrong picture.

I was for a long time then gave up. I ended up with the 6773LX in nylon. It's one of my favorites to play.

I tried to track one down for a while too, but wound up with this one instead.

Good luck with the hunt!

WOW ! just looked at Alex's site and left a message for him- you're right! That is a 2774 in the photo. Hope he has it in stock and its not just the wrong photo! Thanks so much!
Mike
ps- Bernie, from your list of guitars , don't you have a 2774 already? Are you looking for another? That's impressive!
Cheers!

Instead of a 2774LX I bought that "Custom-Custom-Legend-Slothead LX" from Dave (Standingovation) which ist "The best 2774 LX" on earth. The specs are nearly identical, but it has a better quality of top-wood, the nice sunburst color and the CL bling. It has opened up nicely and has a wonderful clear and bright sound. It is "my" guitar in every way, I think the last one I wound sell.

I honestly hope you find what you are looking for Mike. All of the Folklores have something extra built into them I think. But in my completely and shamelessly biased opinion, this was the best one they ever built.

That's one badass axe.

As for the 6774 (pre LX) Patch posted above, that one has a 1 7/8" nut. I used to have one too. It was a beautiful guitar, but I sold it cuz that nut was just too wide for me. It is 14 frets to the body though.
