Hello,
Just got a 1975 1617 that I’d like to upgrade by removing the thick clear coat from the top. Need to fix a small crack and figured “while I’m at it...”

Sounds good, but I can’t help but think that the thick poly(?) is choking it a bit.

My question is: has anyone else done this, and if so - what worked best? Scraping and sanding, chemicals, heat, etc?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you!
