Hi, Im steve, and
I haven't had an ovation since iwas at Berklee School of Music in .....1973!
I had a Glenn Campbell, mid or shallow bowl.

I would like an Ovation again.
I have found some sites with old catalogs and descriptions, model #s, prices.
But, I'm overwhelmed.

I don't want an entry level, but rather a nice one, even if older.
I play blues, rock, jazz, bossa, some grass. Mostly a martin guy.
I do gig. well...used to.

I think I want a round hold, simply so the inside can be accessed if work needs to be done.
I understand the Adamas are superb, but nearly impossible to repair, short of a master shop and luthier.

I am asking for either some simple guidelines as to how to chose. I assume not Applause or Celebrity lines.

I understand that typically the collectors models had top design and features for any given years they were offered.

I simply need an overview as to how to determine what level of quality im looking at , used.
would appreciate any cautions , aside from obvious crack or top separations to be aware of.

I assume, price is not necessarily a reliable indicator...?

I like the custom legend. I really like the 1987-4.

perhaps theres a link or FAQ on how the numbers work?

Thanks, looking forward to joining the club soon.

btw , did find the FAQ, models and numbering, but need to have an idea of how to determine where something fits in the Ovation pecking order.
I have also read the "Ovation Guitars" in hopes of getting some of the info I seek, not a lot of help, but very interesting.

Hi Steve.

Only you can decide which Ovation is for you.
Here is some more fuel for the fire
http://www.ovationtribute.com/index.php

Once you decide which model you like, then you can search for what is available.
