| Hi all. I've had my Gloss back Deluxe Balladeer since 1980. I paid $350 for it. She needs new frets and has a the typical crack to the bridge.
I'm old now and I was never really good when I played often back in '76. On the other hand, I got mad skill in the shop working with tools and Youtube is a great tutorial.
I found a local Luthier but trust is not a strong suit for me. Estimates from him are at $380. I'm also about 3 hours away from the Ovation factory.
Question; Should I fix it myself or is the rarity of this model a consideration for a novices to repair?
Thanks |

| I've decided to do it myself. Going good so far. Loosened truss rod, removed old frets, repaired chips, reclaimed fret slots, sanded fret board, stained board, ordered 12" fret press tool & new frets. Fingers crossed. |
