Hi, I am new to the OFC. I have a1968 Balladeer that has a slight belly, no bridge but action gets higher towards 12th feet. It is in good shape, a few dings here and there but the finish over the rosette has started to lift. Is it worth repairing any or all of these problems, will it change the value of it or is it better left original with problems? Pictures attached.

As the advice appears, in the other discussion thread, restore it's playability, & leave the rest alone. The 1618 is a great instrument, & you have a very early one. Just play it. There may be some way to shoot some lacquer or other clear finish under the rosette to resolve the cloudiness. I wouldn't pry off the rosette, unless you REALLY know what you're doing. They don't come off that easily. And, you may open another can-of-worms in the process, anyway.

Little late to the party but what did you do? I have a similar guitar with the cloudy issues on the rosette. It's basically the lacquer separating from the rosette. The finish is pretty thick in that area. I just decided to leave mine alone.

I've had mine for about four years and when I got it it desperately neede a proper setup and now it plays great. Mostly the truss rod needed adjustment there was too much neck relief

With that being said the neck set was off but you cant reset the neck because the epoxy in the neck joint makes it very hard to do.

I did cut down the bridge about 1/16" and made a new saddle the slot was still deep enough.

The bridge was thick to begin with with and shaving it helped the playability
