My until now, faithful for 45 years, Korg DT-1 gave up the ghost.     I'm leery of spending $40 on a used one.

Any recommendations for another hand held tuner?  I don't like the headstock clip on ones.  They don't seem to stay on Ovation headstocks anyway.  Thanks in advance.

Hey, dba,
I use an A-440 Tuning Fork. It never needs batteries. I hit one of the forks on a hard surface. It vibrates, and I hold the stem with my thumb and finger on my guitar's top and/or the bridge. Instant Open A Harmonic! I tune by ear from there. Did I mention they are small and very portable?

Thanks.  I'm not that talented and I don't have the ear for that.

There are several handheld tuner apps for phones. I use Pro Guitar for most of my tuning. It has a simple meter with cents, and a tone generator, and lots of alternative tuning options as well. It must be free because I've never had to pay for installing it on any device; though I believe there is also an upgrade version for purchase.
