Hello!
I have some questions for you.
I have been looking for a 1619, and came across this 1119 on Reverb.
https://reverb.com/item/77308250-ovation-1119-4-1976-natural
A couple of the photos show evidence of an electric Ovation.
Is this a legit listing, in your opinion?
What about the crack?
Have you imported a US-made guitar from Canada and had to pay duty?

I just got my first Ovation, a black 1618.
1978 Ovation 1119-4 Natural

this is the text from the 119 Reverb listing:

"Vintage Ovation 1116-4. This guitar is in good condition. 1970s model with original matching hard case. Made in USA. Sounds really great, especially when amplified!

There is a stable, repaired crack on the top.

This particular guitar was owned by Larry Hilt, a co-founder of Ovation.

Comes with Martin D-25 blueprints produced by Larry Hilt for Ovation."

Thanks a lot!

Welcome,
I've moved this thread into the General Forums area so more folks more knowledgeable than I can respond. I would ask the seller to take a closer look at the model number (currently obscured by a string). It's an acoustic/electric in the picture.

It looks like a 1619 as evidenced by the volume knob on the body and the 1/4 inch outlet on the rear of the body. I think somehow the wrong sticker label ended up inside the guitar. There is always the risk of finish cracks on these guitars. I think the shipping price is too much. I got an 1869-1 Custom Legend from Japan and it wasn't $220 to ship to the USA from there.

Look at the bridge/saddle setup that guitar started as a acoustic only then someone added electronics later IMHO,if it was a 1619 it should have the OPC-1K pickup ,shipping is high but it is international,I would look for a 1619 without a crack in the top, cracks happen but they don't have to.

Didn't even notice the bridge.  Same one as on my first 1121-4.  You're right about top cracks.  None of my Ovations have them.

I agree with 2WD as evidenced by the saddle type. Originally a 1119 acoustic only.. then aftermarket electronics added later. Just the "11" model number tells us that much. And.. if it were instead a factory 1619 the control knob would likely be on the upper bass bout near the neck (or did they move them down to the waist on certain 1619 production runs? I dunno). I also see what looks like a battery box retainer screw directly next to the volume knob. Didn't that powered electronics system/configuration come later than 1976?

That looks like the system they put on the custom legend 1669 circa 83-85 it had the knobs on the waist because the strap button was on the bass bout by the neck(1669 was a cutaway CL).
