| Hello and thank you for allowing me to join.
I just purchased my first Ovation and am very happy with it so far.
The paper label is gone, there is a serial number of 7000658, but I have read it is probably a Korean
built and the serials add up to nonsense..
I found the guitar on the GC website; it was advertised as a CE48.
After doing a bit of research I concluded it wasn't the above as it has Diamond inlays in the fretboard.
It has a Birdseye top, Shallow body, gold tuners, the diamond inlays, 14 frets to body, 6 steel string and an OP24+ preamp. no tuner.
There is no wear on the frets, top or dings etc.
After a good cleaning and oil to the bridge and fretboard, new 53-12 D'Addario strings - she's a happy girl.

Location: Denmark | Happy NGD. I think the answer you got at TGP (Celebrity CC257 Deluxe) could be right - or a CS257 if it is super shallow bowl. Color looks CCBQ. | Yes no tuner op24+ and I was hoping for a tuner.
it is a shallow bowl: right at 4 inches at its deepest.
Cocobolo not birdseye?
It’s a joy to play.

There is a silver grey sticker in the bowl near the neck joint.
No label… It makes me a bit uneasy as it could be HOT?
But I bought it from GC: im good… right? |

If you suspect stolen due to the missing label - hardly. The label says only the brand, the model and the country of origin. No s/n or similar traceability info. An on board tuner is very convenient. The competition however is hard. Many players use a processing pedal which may have a (better) tuner builtin and I prefer a good quality clip-on. To each his/her own preference.

Location: Denmark | I am a bit amused by the shame that is connected with asian produced goods back when the global market was emerging "Pacific-based subsidiary" is a bit pathetic. It was made ... umm ... you know ... the place we dont talk about. Mostly the Celebrities are nice guitars. I had a CC-024 for some time but sold it to get a model with the super shallow body. If you dive into the many threads here you may also find that quality of production is not necessarily a matter of geography and lemons exist everywhere. A guitar from the 90s which still plays plays well and makes you want to play it is a good guitar.

It would be a CS257 then - shallow bowl.

page 13 - CS257-AB Autumn Burst - I think we have a winner.
I am really loving this guitar.
It does not have a full sonic range like my Yairi or Taylor,
But it feels good to get out for practice and take to a practice.
who knows, maybe I will gig with it too? |

Definitely agree with your last sentence - any guitar which makes you want to play it is a good guitar!
The range of Ovation products from Applause to Adamas are all very good instruments for their price point. Some of the lower priced instruments turn out to be far better than they should be. It seems some of the price difference is in the human time spent on final details like frets or the clearcoat. I've seen really cheap guitars (like $70 Jasmine) which sound really quite good but they need a few hours of labor towards a decent setup and fixing slight fret problems.
The offshore products get a bad reputation because they are built to a lower standard intentionally. The Asian factories do a great job of meeting the specifications asked of them. |

SSB Ovations may appear weak in the low end when strummed with a plectrum.
Their strong sides in my point of view:
1. Finger picking
2. Plugged in
3. They actually stand out fine in a mix
4. They are cool
