Hello, I just became the owner of an Ovation Preacher and need some help. The p/o did some work on the wiring,,,well they bipassed the 3way switch. Took it out completely. I would like to put the switch back. I think these take a mini toggle switch but where is the best place to find one? Also if anyone can tell me or post a diagram of how to wire the switch up would be most helpful. Over all the guitar is in pretty good shape and plays well even with the old dead strings on it. I would be interested in knowing how old this guitar is too, the serial # is E 19XXX. Thanks

Tim

Here is a site with a lot of the owners manuals for the Ovations including the Preacher. I just bought one and it is great.
In the owners manual it shows the wiring of the guitar.

Enjoy it's a rocking guitar. I got family that live in Mountain Home Ar.

Very cool. I just became the proud owner of a '77 Preacher myself. Very cool guitar. Mine's a fixer upper too. It needs a new nut and the previous owner installed a switch that no longer seems to do anything. Sorry, I don't know how they serialized these guitars. I can check my # to se if it's close though. Kitmann - thanks for the link. Cool stuff. Oddly enough, I grew up in Mountain Home.

Thanks for the info. I ended up taking it to a guitar shop and letting them install a switch and do a setup. Should be ready this weekend. Looking forward to seeing what this thing will do.

Speakerjones, hey just to add more oddity I just bought a Preacher about a month ago. Wait until you run it through two amps. The sounds you can get with out using any pedals just the guitar and the amps is un real.

Try this link to check on serial numbers and such.
