Custom Balladeer Deep Contour 2762BL,
Made in Czech Republic,
Includes soft case,
Priced between Asian and USA models ($1649 to $1699), from what I've seen so far,

Interesting idea, not crazy about the soft case, although it looks pretty decent.
What do you think?

Hey, Tony,
I'm not crazy about soft cases for any OVATION guitar, either. The special construction requires an OHSC. "Just sayin' my say." (Burt Lancaster- Ulzanna's Raid).

I've never heard of an Ovation produced in the Czech Republic. But that's just me since I recently learned that I can buy fridge that doesn't require a block of ice. Just plug it in and it keeps stuff cold. Amazing. So someone please clue me in on this one.

Hope you don't mind my chiming in Tony PD. The 2762BL looks really impressive to me (the new tuning pegs look really nice). I really like what GEWA, the current owners of Ovation, is doing with the brand. Since they're Headquartered in Germany, it makes sense to have a production facility nearby in the Czech Republic. IMHO, they've done a great job improving the quality of Ovation's manufacturing in Asia as seen in their Celebrity and Applause line of guitars. I don't own any of them as I'm thinning my herd, but I've had the opportunity to play some of them at a few stores. If their quality control in Asia is any indication, I'm sure their guitars made in the Czech Republic are as good - probably better.

As far as the soft case/gig bag goes, my son's MIC CC54i Celebrity came with a gig bag (also MIC). It was quite good. I put my CC247 Celebrity into the gig bag and gave it to a friend who eventually moved to Indonesia. The gig bag and the CC247 are still in good shape some 15 years later. I wouldn't recommend flying with the gig bag; but if you're just carrying your guitar locally from point A to point B, they are convenient (especially if the gig bag is back-pack ready) and light. Specs say the soft case for the 2762BL has 20mm of cushion - that's plenty of padding. Not sure where it's made; but if GEWA is managing the quality, I bet they're built better than the one I gave away.

The only question I would have is the OP-Pro pre-amp just because I've never owned one. But I've never owned an Ovation pre-amp that sounded "bad" so that would not be a deal breaker for me. Hope this helps. If you end up getting the guitar, make sure to post some pics and your take of the instrument! Good luck!

I've "heard" good things about the quality of Ovations coming out of the Czech Republic.

The OpPro is a fine preamp. I believe it is fully analog, and it seems to have a better reliability than the VIP or Studio.

Gig bag? Not my preference but as aramako says if you're not flying with it, it should be quite adequate. I use a gig bag for a travel acoustic (carbon fiber) and 2 different solid body electrics. Never had a problem with any damage.

And now I know. Thank you, Randy. I'll try to keep up.
