Just got my Ovation Elite 1758 12 string and it is a beauty but it didn't come with an owner's manual. Anyone know how to change the 9 volt battery on the preamp? I can get my hand on it from the access hole on the bottom of the guitar but it seems to be seated pretty solidly. I don't want to force it!

Anybody know where I can get a manual or a photocopy of one?

Manuals are available on the ovation website in the electronics section. Dave

There should be a flathead screw near the stacked volume/tone knob. While holding the battery box from inside, turn the screw counter-clockwise about 1/2 turn and the box should come free.

After changing the battery so many times on my Legend Ltd over the years, the small screw finally worked its way out of the bowl. I could have yanked it out with pliers somewhere along the way, I can't remember. In any event, with the screw out of the bowl hole, it is relatively easy to line up the battery box and bowl holes, then insert and turn the retaining screw. Until the screw was removed from the bowl, it was a bear. Now its easy. Just don't lose the screw.

Thanks folks. Got the battery changed. Now, does anybody know where I can get some finger callouses? ;) Lost mine 'bout three years ago... been that long since I spent more than a couple minutes playing any guitar and eighteen years since I had a hold of a 12-string. After an hour with my 1758 I have a severe case of finger tip buzz!

Keep piling up those hours.

I'm working on some callouses, too. I rode a bike for an hour last night for the first time in ten years.

Thin layer of brush-on Crazy Glue... Wait a few minutes for it to dry first.
Don't touch yourself while waiting...
