Thanks to Trader Jim ( thread here ) I've removed the 'tronics from my CC57. Now I need some help from the 'hive'.

What preamp do I have?
Where can I find a replacement pickup since someone tossed the original?
Any wiring diagrams? I can't determine where the pickup was wired on the preamp board. I assume the pictured leads are for the output jack.

Yes, I have emailed the 'Mothership' and am awaiting the tele-transportation of all the magical componets. ;)

TIA

'Mothership' says that this is a DJ-2 preamp (no battery required).

Now to find a pickup... ;)

You could find an OP 24 used cheap, (maybe jason?) and it would make a better setup. Your bridge would require a thin line pickup (maybe jason again) or the factory could sell you one. I bought one from them for my 1115 when I electrified it and as I recall it was under 50 bucks new.

An OP24 would be a sweet upgrade, but one immediate question is whether the preamp retrofits the bowl cutout for the DJ-2. If not, you're looking at some surgery beyond drilling a hole for the battery holder mount.

I'm sure there would have to be some surgery as the OP looks bigger to me. (sorry, failed to mention that. Thanks Paul) The thing to do would be to find a guitar with the OP system and measure the "footprint" to see if it would cover the existing hole.... Or....just replace what you have and call it a day. You will still need a thinline pickup though. I would check with John and see if that pickup is compatable with your amp.

Gents,

Thanks for the suggestions! I have no adversion to a Dremel job. I've done that with several firearms that I've resurrected. I'm almost sure that any other premap will not drop in.

With the vast $$ invested ($75 w/case) I was just hoping to find the appropriate pickup and keep it stock. If I determine that the preamp is kaput, then I'll gladly upgrade.

I'm currently awaiting a response from the 'MS' with their availabilty of compatible P/Us and the proper connections.

I 'Googled' Ovation pickups and could not find a decent history/compatibilities source. At this point I'm hoping that the generic 'MS' emaill addy will provide the info I need.

Again, thanks for you inputs!
