Hi! I just got a '93 1860 (FET3 preamp), and it's missing the jack. I need to know where the 3 wires attach; there's the shield, a black wire and a red wire. I'm sure the shield will go to the sleeve, so I need to know which wire goes to the tip and which wire goes to the switching connection.

Is this making sense? I bet Jason would know.

I just finished wiring up a reverb spring tank to a stereo headphone preamp; (also working on adding a blend control to balance between the guitar reverb(wet) with the dry guitar output).
Anyway, the red wire(+) should go to the tip(+).

Do you have a third-connection on the socket for turning off the battery power when the plug is removed? Might want to consider having it wired up with that, too?

Yes Keven, I have a jack with a switching connection. I've tried red to the tip and black to the switching, and vice-versa with no success. I'm not sure of the wiring order though, and hoped someone who had actually done one of these would chime in.

Shield goes to the two inner lugs.
Black to outer left lug.
Red to outer right lug.

If you don't have this type contact the factory.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have an older jack, and John Budny is sending me a new one. I'll double check my solders to make sure they aren't sloppy and shorting across. Or maybe my older jack is bad.
