Jim,

The correct answer for tuning a 12 string is;

Spend 1/2 your time tuning and the other half playing an out of tune 12 string. :D

While tuning a 12-string on stage once, John Denver said he prefers to find the one string that is out of tune, then tunes the other eleven to it.

Ooh, harsh.

My recollection is that the guy who built the experimental he was flying/buying had installed the fuel gauge (or maybe the sender/pickup) improperly (wrong location? memory is hazy) and it read high. Tragic. I expected a big crackdown on the EAA and home builders after that.
