It was in stock, then out of stock, then I cancelled the order, then I had hard time getting the correct amount of credit on my cc (I still wanted the case). It took days to straighten all this out! Is this typical of the way they run their business, or did I just have a bad couple of days with them? I'm scared to even order a set of strings from them now!

I got into a tangle with zzounds and MF, so now i've been visiting AMS, haven't had a problem with them yet. Ernie

More recently, I've been working with Musician's Friend for most stuff. They ship out of Kansas City, which means I get stuff from them pretty quick. Never any problems with them either. IIRC, Musician's Friend just bought Music123.

It's not like you can go into a place and get some eyewash on the guy. Though I agree, it's frustrating as h#ll.

They at least kept me apprised of the backorder and ended up sweetening the deal a little bit. I've also had good service from SameDay music. But I've learned my lesson on acoustic guitars. Buy local...

MF aka guitar center put in a bid to buy it and AFAIK they are in the process of buying it. bottom line is I have no clue if companies are supplying them with anything these days. they may be selling out of the warehouse or if the sale went throught they may be selling out of the MF warehouse. these things are usually too complicated for my mind. these types of businesses are usually very good for small items they often use them as lost leaders or purchase so many that they get them for ridiculous costs that small guys can't compete with. pros and cons? go with someone you trust and like their service.

The guitar that arrived today was still in the BIG box that they come in from the factory (we're talking HUGE here with lots of inflated plastic bags). The strings were pretty loose. Service was great! I would tell you what I bought, but I would be embarrassed to explain such insatiable GAS. I mean really, I am over the top. But, I am going to sell a custom made O that has some real sentimental value for me to pay my penance. Good thing Moody ain't coming! He would kick my ass!! I am so greedy. I feel so dirty.

I use their catalog as a bargaining chip when I shop for stuff at the big box music retailers. One time, Sam Ash sent me a postcard in the mail that offered 20% off their competitor's prices. I used that postcard plus Music 123's catalog, and got an extremely sweet deal on an LXM for $207 [tax included]. Not bad for a bottom feeder ...

That being said, my dissatisfaction maybe should be with Silvertone, and NOT Music123. I send back two of the guitars, for faulty Humbuckers. All five trips were FREE! So I really can't snivel about their service. The Rockit that I kept still was missing the nut that secures the 1/4 inch jack, but I just fixed that myself. Keep in mind that the guitar is Cheap. But their service was prompt. If you wanna return something... you call them, they give you an RMS number, you take it to Fed Ex, and it is on it's way. All in all, I think that they lost money on me with all the shipping. But they do honor their return policy. So, that's my story... Take it for what it's worth
