I have an Ovation 12 String Legend 1658. Does anyone know what it's worth?
Thanks, Lynda

Hi Lynda,
To get any useful estimate of an instrument's value, you're going to need to provide more information, such as age, condition, whether or not a case is included, etc. It looks like that guitar was only offered from '79 through '82. The serial number can be used to date the guitar and pictures are also very helpful. My guess is that the guitars condition will dictate the value.

The 1658 CL is a wonderful Custom Legend deep bowl slothead 12-string. I have two. Years ago, I had the 1158 acoustic. What Nick said is correct - condition is very important.

When I bought one in 12/03, the eBay auction ended in less than 40 minutes and the seller already had seven serious inquiries from outside of the U.S. That was at $802. Yet, I got one in 8/06 for $650. The right buyer for the right guitar could pay well over $1,000. For the mass market $600-800. And, those are in excellent condition.

If problems, the buyer has to evaluate what the cost and time would take to send to the factory to restore.

Full and accurate disclosure with pictures are vital.

Welcome Linda9000,
We all try to help with questions but this is the most difficult. There are just to many variables. You could take 10 of our estimates, average them out and still come up with at best, a ballpark figure.
.
Looking at competed sales on ebay might give you an idea where the current price range is for your guitar.
.
And welcome.
