Hi People,

A quick introduction and what brought me here.
I live in NSW Australia and over 20 years ago, a mate taught me some basic chords on his Ovation guitar. Fast forward 20 years and I am now in a band playing small gigs and backyard parties.

Workhorse is a Fender strat and for the past few years I have not had an acoustic, but I have a love for ovations so I want to learn more about them. I spotted a blue flamed one in a shop a few years ago which was drastically reduced as it had been dropped, but I didnt buy it. I love the flame guitars in any colour, so keep a look out for one for me please!! Anyway...chat later!!!

Welcome Shaboo!

Absolutely, positively and under no circumstances should you follow this link and start discussing guitars with this group of Miscreants and String Mongerers:
The Down Unders

You will run the risk of spending all your spare time and money swapping guitars and lies with them.

You have been warned!

Now go and enjoy yourself...

How Central? I'm in Hornsby Heights but work in Gosford one day per fortnight. Ozwatto is near Port Mac.

Shaboo, if you're looking for a really nice USA Ovation, there's one on Oz eBay right now.

I can tell you that the seller is an upright, trustable and extremely handsome rogue.

TAFKAR, Ozwatto, AussieJames and Flacky have all seen and played this guitar and they can all vouch for its condition, sound and playability.

Shaboo, that guitar is well worth snaffling. The seller is indeed upright and trustable. Maybe his wife sees something in the looks.

If you buy it and don't trust the couriers, I am going up to Brisbane in April and will be giving AJ one of his guitars which I have been babysitting. I will therefore have a free hand and could take it up to Gosford on the next Thursday after that

Hang on Richard. That would involve me driving to Brisbane.

Unless you're thinking of taking a Sunshine Coast long weekend.

I'll only drive to Brisbane if the Southbank Ovation Museum is having an Open Day.

Hey Shaboo

Just in case you don't know what Woody was referring to with the above link, there is a 'sister site' to the Ovation Fan Club where members can have their own area to post pictures, videos and music, and many like-minded people set up groups - kind of like forums within a forum.

Anyway, Woodie's link is for the DownUnder Group , which currently has 10 members, 8 of which keep in touch regularly. We've even had a few get-togethers over the last couple of years.

Head on over and join us, you'll have to sign up again, because it's a different forum, (though still part of the OFC) but once you've done that, you're done.

Thanks for all the replies people. That o on ebay oz does look great. The penny has just dropped...its yours Muzza?

I will have a think about it...but I have my heart set on a flame design. Call me weird, but once I see something I want I cant get it outa my mind. Then again sometimes I wake up and do sensible things.

I checked out downundergroup and the posts seemed dated??? Maybe I need to sign up to see all the posts. I will.

Cheers people.

Shaboo,

You need to set your ning settings to show the latest posts first (otherwise you'll see the oldest posts first, and there are a lot of them).

Good question. I certainly did that sometime ago. It's a bit hard to see all the options on my iPhone with the bus bouncing around. A little help someone!

Also make sure you are looking at the general chatter rather than the specific topics at the top of the page. No one has opened a new topic for some time, but the chatter is pretty much daily

Our ongoing Aussie washerwoman convention continues on the 'Comment Wall' at the bottom of the Downunder group - its not called 'General Chat'.

Just to clear up any potential confusion.
