Hello everyone. New member here. I recently purchased a 1998 1869 Custom Legend with Optima Pre-amp. When I plug in the XLR jack, it works but I get crackeling sound with the sound cutting in/out. I suspect I need to look for some loose wires. Any suggestions? Thanks

To check the preamp: try using the 1/4 inch plug. If it still crackles, it is the preamp. If the 1/4 inch plug works, try a new cable. If that fixes it, it is the cable. If it doesn't, try looking inside at the XLR connector. Check out the connections. Do they look intact?
