hi all and thanks for this site =)

so i have a few ovations but i saw a thunderbolt design i hadnt seen before. I own a thunderbolt TS01 snake and grabbed a CSD double neck a few years back but i walked into a pawn shop yesterday and scooped up a Thunderbolt TD01 with a lightning strike paint design. Its a black background with white/blue strikes that are all accented by metallic glitter type air brushing. Thing is ive never seen this design. i thought the TD01 model number was for the dragon design so my fear is some idiot stripped a dragon and airbrushed it but it looks too good to be a home job. can any one help out with some input? Thanks all.

steve

That's a thunderbolt through and through. I've never seen one like that before, but it may have been a promo run? The graphic sorta looks like the label. If it's a custom, it's nicely done. Nice score.

hmm, it's interesting that the bowl label has the same / similar lightening design - that would make it seem like a factory done airbrush or decal job... but not conclusive. A quick Google search didn't provide any others with the same design, but did bring up a couple other unusual Thunderbolt body artworks...

snakeskin T-bolt

confetti ??? T-bolt (3rd one in the list)

As Bobbo said, might be a promo model. Maybe ya got yerself a gen-u-ine "limited edition" Thunderbolt.

or maybe somebody got inspired by this Dean Thunderbolt guitar...

I believe that is a factory job.
I Have seen more than one photo of that guitar (or it's sibling)...
With the lightning on the label.
Therefore I believe it to be an official Ovation critter. :p

love that one ! guy in central Ny had a blue snakeskin on the 'bay a few months ago. wanted 1299. for it plus 100 shipping. told him went he came down to earth to call me. i want a t-bolt. played one in iraq back in 90,91.somehow the squid that owned it lost it.. damn thing followed me to somalia somehow. then to bosnia. then it got lost again. thats what got me hooked on ovations. damn near indestructible.
