After a long time of deciding what kind of Ovation to get, I decided on getting an Ovation Celebrity CDX24 in Deep Transparent Red. I listened to your advice about looking for a used USA Ovation, but I couldn't find one in my price range that I really liked, so I bought a brand new CDX24 with a hardshell case for about $500.

The guitar has a beautiful Deep Transparent Red finish, mid-depth body, OP-Pro preamp, and a solid top. And most importantly, it sounds amazing - like all Ovations do.

Two stories about my new guitar:
I bought my guitar on Monday night, received a confirmation email, and heard nothing since then. After three days with no news, I emailed the store I bought it from today, asking where it was. Fifteen minutes later, UPS arrives with my guitar. Talk about good customer service :D

I tested my OP-Pro preamp to make sure it worked. I removed the preamp and put in the provided battery. The preamp didn't work  . I started panicking, about to curse my bad luck. Then, I checked the power of the battery. It was dead. I replaced the battery, and all is good now :)

Congrats, sounds like a beauty! Post pictures if you can, when you can stop playing long enough to do so ;)

BTW are you on the Takamine Forum ? Many of us also own (and love) Taks.

Way to sell it Serge! Welcome K-trey. Stick around, you'll have more than one guitar soon. ;)

Yeah, Pictures!

A quick look-up tells me that that looks like a good choice.
I has an OP-Pro and nifty fret markers...
And a Solid Top!
I have owned many Celebrity's before I became a solid-top-snob.

I'll post pictures as soon as I find my camera.

g8r, I'm not on the Takamine Forum. As a side note, I got my Tak as a gift. It's a 12-string and sounds great, but frankly, I felt limited on what I could play on it, so I looked for a 6-string acoustic/electric. Then I met Ovation :)

That sound familiar! Welcome. Since owning an Ovation (well OK several  ) I have made more progress than in any time over the last 25 years of playing the guitar. There is something really quite special about Ovations.

Welcome and play it long and hard. I too started with a Celebrity, then a Balladeer 12-string, and now an Elite-T (my fave). Its a hard addiction to break.
