I removed 2 shims and the action is fine. The neck is straight. The VIP is interesting and I am still trying to find the sweet spot. However, for a quality guitar like this the frets seem very tall almost like moguls. Is this the same with all of these? I am comparing this guitar to my other guitars and these frets are much taller. Am I being overly picky about this one? God bless, Steve

I look forward to seeing what other have to say. Cheers Chris

I've decided to torture the people I work with by playing a few holiday inspired tunes at our company function this coming weekend. So I'm deciding what guitar to take, figuring it will be the Martin, so I go up into the guitar loft with the lovely and talented lady stonebobbo so she could listen to me practice and opine on my selection of guitars. I played a song on a slew of different options, including the Legend Limited (JL3), 1537, 2000, '69 1117, OFC "Ding-O", Martin custom, Tak 340SBG, Cole Clark Fat Lady 2, Tak EF75J, Lakewood J-32, 82C and 2007BCS. (Yes, I needed a lot of practice). We narrowed down the field to the top three and went through it again. When the dust settled, the 2007 came in first place. Clearly and she was 100% sure. In direct response to your question, the frets are taller and wider than some guitars I have. But they seem to be the same as most of my other favorites to play. There is some grading for the sizes of the frets ... maybe these are what they call Jumbo frets. The more time I spend with the 2007BCS, the more I find myself drawn to it. It is rapidly becoming my go-to guitar.

I have an 1881 with frets that the previous owner polished and if nothing else, the darn things shine like chrome. Maybe higher frets will give you longer life if you just keep polishing the wear marks down every few years.
