Location: New Hampsha | My Latest project is finally finished!
A 1613 that had a broken headstock and destroyed top and bridge with a new solid Ziricote top and matching heel and headstock overlays, a carved Legend bridge, and removed electronics.
I used a modified Ovation X bracing and it sounds really nice; I'm very pleased with this one. A Nylon string "Keeper."

| Very nice work! I've seen ziricote used as back & side woods, but how does it sound as a top wood? |

Location: New Hampsha | Sixteen pieces, four each of spruce, spalted maple, bubinga, and dunno (something that had splotches) all set flush to the ziricote surface. |

Location: New Hampsha | gr8 - sounds very nice. I had tried a bubinga top on a previous project but used a ladder brace and it was disappointing, very mid heavy and thin. I was willing to try nontraditional wood once more. For this one I used an Ovation x-brace and FRG and got a really nice sound, full, even, and tons of sustain. It's all in the brace? |

Not a hard wood to work, and LMI was fantastic to deal with. I ordered a two-piece set planed to my specified thickness and joined, about $100. |

I only see 13 of the 16 overlays. But they are very well done. Nice job of converting kindling! (I still like "Katrina" better.) I've never been into the nylon strings. I'd be very interested in hearing how that sounds.
Oh, don't you have to give up one if you're going to keep this one???
When are you going to upload some tunes?

Might have to fish some of your board out of the guitar cavity. Nice to see you back on the boards. Still enjoying the beautiful Hurricane, but boy is that neck skinny! |
