In the Capital district 200,000 plus. Massachusettes and New Hampshire have more.
It sucks ... mainly because I can't do anything about it.

My father-in-law called last night from Tennessee and said he had driven through a huge snowstorm getting there. He usually exagerates. Apparently not this time.

Not to make light of it, and to bring it home to the forum, acoustic guitars don't need electricity. There's a pic on the Internet of snow in New Orleans. Not sure why we're getting off so easy. Its 'sposed to be 58 in Denver today.

Snow and ice in Syracuse but nobody's out of power. Plenty of id-yots sliding off the roads all over the place but that's always expected here.

The major power outage we had in the fall from Hurricane Ike was a major inconvenience. I would hate to think what one would be like when it's winter.

We had 7 days here without electricity 2 winters ago, and right in the middle of a metro area.

It sucks for sure. I do have plenty of D batteries now though.

We may get some crap too. High winds and sub-freezinf temps this weekend.

It's a bit cloudy and in the 40s here, but it's supposed to be below freezing with snow this weekend. Looking forward to it. It's time to ski.

NOAA is not into being politically-correct. We're gonna take a beating this weekend. Projected 3 FEET in the mountain passes.

Let me know when it passes you Chris. I'll watch for it, but it may go north of us. Dave, I'll think of you when I'm staring at the fireplace or maybe when I'm jabbing the coals with the poker.

I miss Real Snow.
After living in Boston during the Blizzard of '78, these little storms don't impress me anymore.
Unless you have National Guard troops riding around with M-16's to prevent looting, people cross-country skiing around town, and snowmobiles on the Charles River, you aren't having fun yet...

That was so much fun. Once in a lifetime experience.
I hope y'all enjoy yours as much. :D

It's supposed to be summer down here but it's only 17C and going to be our wettest day all year. Maybe it will break the drought - my son has just gone to give a windsurfing lesson. Idiot!!

Sorry I can't imagine what it would be like living through a snowstorm.

We're supposed to get that storm here after you guys in Washington are done with it. Wring it out good so it's dried up by the time it gets here, OK? Usually Hot Springs doesn't get much snow, even when all around us are buried, but they are predicting that we won't get much and that scares me as they are usually wrong.

OMA, thanks for the memories of '78! I was working in inspection on the third floor in Moosup. I bet Beal remembers too. They were predicting flurries, but I told Beal we were going to get three feet. When I turned out to be right, he came to me for weather predictions after that. I never got it right again.

In '78, we had just got 16" of "Snow Flurrys" the night before...
I stopped in the liquor store and bought a six-pack.
The store-dude told me that I would need more than that, and that he was closing early. He had brought-in a little TV, and they were interrupting everything with weather updates.
[So I bought a case, some vodka and a carton of cigarettes... Y'know, the essentials]
That night we got 28 more inches of snow, and governor Dukakis called in the National Guard.

No work for 5 days, unless you were a doctor, nurse, or you could walk to work. No buses, but the subway was free. One lane plowed down the street for Fire Trucks and Police. No cars.
The weather was nice and sunny for the next week, but the city was crippled.
Lots of people just standing around drinking beer and schnapps. An impromptu Holiday.
It was Great!

Ain' gonna snow in Seattle/Bellevue. Too much body heat. Or in Olympia, too much hot air.

I was in Seattle in the early 80s when it snowed a couple inches and the city was paralyzed until it melted the next day. I was in Hawaii by then.

Every year we have a day or two or sometimes more that we get that.

The results are always the same. City in turmoil, news special reports, and all.

One year I lived in Houston *shudder*, and it snowed an inch or two there. It was a major disaster.
