But I do know that I can listen to any amount of Grace or Janis without fatigue. Same goes for Annie Lennox (even more so). Some others on the list begin to grate after a while. Depending on who we're talking about, the while can be a few minutes or a few seconds. For instance I have never voluntarily listened to an entire Alanis Morissette, PJ Harvey, or Bjork song all the way through. On a different note, I love Kate Bush's music, especially her later stuff, and can listen to it all day long, BUT I'm not a huge fan of her voice. On the other hand Christine Aguilera has world class pipes (alone IMHO among the newer crop), but I don't like her music much.

I like the Jefferson Airplane version better. Grace's voice is good, but comparing her to Janis is like saying she sounds better than fingernails on the chalkboard. CSNY has nice 3 part harmonies, but a guy singing falsetto never sounds as good to me as a gal whose voice is naturally in that range. I always thought Grace's voice was a bit in the low alto range and wasn't that extensive, but I didn't listen to her that much. Back OT: Damon, you're right, Brandi has a great voice. Sheryl Crowe admitted it was better than hers.

As a Freshman in High School, Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman were fresh and new, and a good ol' freshly graduated from our high school kid got the call to go play with Ozzy (Brad Gillis, later left and formed Night Ranger). As a sophomore, Metallica's first demo tape was all the rage. So really, we're just talking a difference in the times here. And Schroeder, I'm post Partridge. David Cassidy was old news. Now his brother Shawn, he was BIG when I was in grade school.

Glad you mentioned QMS and John. They are one of the most overlooked bands I can think of. Truly some of the finest work of that era. And John's tone was absolutely KILLER. I'm still searching for anything close to that tone! Fresh Air
