Some fine Ovations

A little tribute to these under-rated guitars.

Ovation 1538-4 Elite 12string
(8 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2014-07-18)

I had to do minor restorations and adjustments (especially that hole under the E-string, quite common to Ovations) but now this guitar can rival my 1688.

The finest workmanship (even inside!) with a bell-like sound.A great pleasure to play and a privilege to own.

I´ve just bought a very nice and detailed mini-Adamas guitar. With this and my 1687 I tested a special feature of my new Lumix camera.

´82 Collector´s with carved bridge
(9 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2015-04-22)

I always wanted this guitar with a acrved bridge like the custom legend, so I decided to make it myself.I also used a custom-made armrest(by Ernie Rissmann, he has a special ovation pattern for them) and re-coloured the white pegheads into matching blue-ish look. What do you think?

The second. I took my time and it worked even better.I think this bridge matches the woody character of this guitar.

A never played ´92 sunburst 1769
(3 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2015-07-08)

I found this on ebay...incredible...built 1992, still factory strung and the old battery(exp.date1995!) inside...only little dust, not a single scratch, perfectly matches my shiny 12string!

Adamas 1681 woodtop
(11 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2014-07-03)

Technically it appears to be an Elite, but I don´t know what the Ovation people did, this guitar can outplay any other of my Ovations. And..isn´t it a beauty?

Adamas 1687 red
(6 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2017-08-28)

The guitar has new frets, brass nut, re-set neck, new Schaller machines with finer ratio and shorter axles for better string pressure on the nut, John Pearse ebony armrest.

Everybody knows how a 2008 looks like. Here some fine details.

1537
(3 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2017-12-06)

1537 with nicks, scratches and dents and a sealed finish crack in the middle of the top, but before the bridge, no problem.
Mothership neckreset and refret, no fretwear.
Custom-made armrest, really great sounding guitar.

Bridge problems?

1759 carved bridge

I decided to make new carvings instead of making a new binding at the edge of the fretboard.

1537-1 a surprising find
(8 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2015-03-21)

In a music shop in Holland was this guitar. Needed a neck-reset, little polish and cleaning, plays and sounds like a dream. And I love sunburst guitars.
Now I am another PROUD owner of a 1537!

Adamas slothead tuner improvement
(10 Photos, 0 Comments : Last updated 2018-02-19)

Slothead tuners sometimes work not smooth enough, I added ball bearings
